What This Service Covers

An electrical inspection is a thorough review of your panel, wiring, grounding, devices, and protection — done to identify hazards, document the condition of the system, and give you a clear list of recommended next steps. We perform whole-home electrical safety inspections for homeowners, buyers, sellers, and insurance purposes across Toronto.

When to Get an Inspection

The signs below do not always mean something is seriously wrong, but they are worth checking out — especially if more than one is present at the same time.

  • You are buying or selling a home
  • Your insurance company has requested an electrical inspection
  • The home is older and you are unsure what wiring it has
  • You are planning a renovation or adding major loads
  • You have noticed flickering, warm outlets, or tripping breakers
  • The panel has not been opened in many years

What an Inspection Covers

  • Panel condition, breakers, and labeling
  • Service size and grounding/bonding
  • Wiring type and condition (knob-and-tube, aluminum, romex)
  • Outlet and switch condition and grounding
  • GFCI and AFCI protection where required
  • Visible connections, junction boxes, and device boxes
  • A written summary of findings and recommendations

Safety Considerations

  • An inspection is non-invasive where possible, but we will open the panel cover to inspect the interior.
  • We flag any immediate hazard and advise whether power should be kept off until it is repaired.
  • We do not perform repairs during the inspection without your approval.
  • Our written summary distinguishes between hazards, code issues, and improvements.

FAQ

Electrical Inspections — Common Questions

Is an electrical inspection the same as a home inspection?
No. A general home inspector does a visual overview, while an electrician doing an electrical inspection opens the panel, tests devices, and assesses the wiring and protection in detail. For older homes or insurance requirements, a dedicated electrical inspection is more thorough.
Will you fix problems you find during the inspection?
We give you a written summary of findings first, with recommended next steps. If you would like us to perform any of the recommended repairs, we will provide a separate scope and quote. We do not start repairs during the inspection without your approval.
How long does an inspection take?
A typical whole-home inspection takes one to two hours depending on the size of the home and the complexity of the panel. You receive the written summary afterward.
My insurance company wants an inspection. Can you do that?
Yes. We perform inspections for insurance requirements and provide a written report. Call us with any forms your insurer has provided and we will let you know what we can accommodate.
